Meeting in Senegal

The beginning of October found me back in Senegal, at a meeting for francophone countries organizing malaria indicator surveys. I was there to give a presentation on how to collect data using PDAs - in French!
There was a great team with years of experience in conducting surveys that taught the course
At the many coffee breaks,

and over lunches and dinners, we very much enjoyed conversation on a huge range of topics. All were very interested in the upcoming American elections! The meeting was held at a hotel that used to be a Club Med, and is located at the western most tip of Africa - the Almadies.Usually one sees sparrows hopping around the courtyard of hotels, but this time it was a hornbill!I also spent some evenings with the family of our resident President's Malaria Initiative advisor - and his two cute sons!Just to document my position at the western most tip of Africa - looking out at the lighthouse...with my toes in the water!!
